Mindful Crystal Baskets & Boxes
by Gail Beck
The traditional weaving of baskets is usually created from natural materials like willows, cane, bamboo, grasses, honeysuckle, or reeds and hand-made with love.
I chose to use selective baskets and similar boxes for the stone combinations to gift them with love and honor.

Baskets were originally designed as multi-purpose vessels to carry and store materials and to keep stray items about the home, with the oldest known baskets discovered in Upper Egypt, carbon-dated to between 10,000 and 12,000 years old.

The Native Americans may well have left the greatest legacy to the world of baskets. Their baskets (many of which have survived in gravesites) are heralded as a pure art form and one that was created not only by primitive people but also by women. In the Southwest, the Hopi, Apache, and other Pueblo tribes made coiled baskets with bold decorations and geometric patterns of both dyed and natural fibers.
